Dedicated Volunteer Positions

CHS needs dedicated volunteers

to fill the following roles:

Office Assistant:

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers that can help us in the shelter office on a regular basis.  Scheduled hours:  10am-7pm Tuesday through Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide respectful customer service/sales in person and on the telephone. Communicate to the general public, shelter information and policy/procedure guidelines.
  • Respond to phone and email messages in a timely manner (within 1 business day).
  • Meet with Executive Director and Operations Manager each day to share information and plan activities of the day.
  • Assist Operations Manager with the enlisting of veterinary services, spay and neuter arrangements, and animal transports in a timely manner.
  • Complete adoption process with potential new pet owner, including interview for appropriateness of pet adoption, complete forms in the Animal Shelter Manager (ASM) system, print copies for file and for new pet owners.
  • In conjunction with Operations Manager, facilitate intake of animals. Complete Assessment (s) and paperwork as indicated to be put in newly created file.
  • Maintain database of shelter statistics including but not limited to:  adoptions, animal intakes, animal health records, and spay/neuter information.
  • Generate monthly shelter animal report for board meeting.  Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Volunteer Coordinator: We are looking for one volunteer to become our volunteer, volunteer coordinator. This person will be responsible for:

  • Managing the shelter’s volunteer base
  • Acting as the liaison for volunteers and shelter staff
  • Sending regular volunteer updates through MailChimp and posting them onto Facebook
  • Adding all new volunteers’ email addresses to MailChimp list
  • Scheduling and running all volunteer orientations
  • Ensuring that all volunteer materials (handbooks, applications, waivers and name badges) are up to date and in stock
  • Ensuring that volunteers are properly trained and receiving proper support from the shelter
  • May be asked to represent CHS at community events

Social Media Assistant We are looking for a volunteer to help us keep our social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook) up to date by posting photos, stories and other interesting and relevant information. Some information and graphics will be provided by the shelter, this volunteer will be responsible for creating or finding additional content.

Experience with creating and editing videos is highly desired.
